A poet at heart and marketer by profession, Shweta Brijpuria is a hard core Bhopali. As eldest sibling in her family, she enjoys the role of ‘didi’ even outside home. She is known in the family for doing things she once feared. Having worked as a marketer with many brands, she believes the first step towards creating something is to believe in one’s ability to create and then working towards it. People travel places; she travels brands, connects with them, nurtures them and grows with them. Here is an excerpt from a recent conversation with her:
Q. I would like you to share something about yourself with our readers.
A. A dreamer as they call me, I am born and brought up in the city of lakes, Bhopal. I love to express myself by way of my poems, yes I am a poet at heart and a marketer by profession.
Q. How did you come up with the idea of writing this genre?
A. Love is evergreen and there can be nothing more exciting than a journey towards finding love. While I was experiencing my ups and downs, I just thought of entering this genre and yes there came Nisha struggling with her own self, finding her Mr.Right.
Q. Where did you find the inspiration to write this book?
A. A life full of adventure was enough to inspire me to write this book. We assume that when we will find the love of our life we would be settled, but actually, the real struggle begins from there.
Q. What exactly does your book convey?
A. Love inherently unsettles us, we change our self for someone and keep doing that consistently, going absolutely against our own choices, at times knowingly and at times unknowingly. This book is a drama about that conflict which every person in love goes through. There is a lot more than what we believe and this is what I have tried to convey through Mr.Right.
Q. What all was going in your head while penning down this book?
A. In my head, I was so convinced with the thought that arranged marriages work better. During our parent’s time falling in love seemed so much more exciting. In this era when we are virtually connected, the feeling of love has become more of advertising on FB and Twitter, than enjoying the depth of the moment. I just wanted to bring that element out while writing the book.
Q. How much time you used to commit to this book?
A. The book took around a year to complete.
Q. Was there any moment you backed off from the idea of writing a book?
A. Not really, the book came out very naturally. Though there were times when we had to bring in logic in the story while editing, that was fun.
Q. How do you handle the criticism that comes towards your way?
A. Criticism is something you handle every day, not just for having an opinion but also deciding for yourself. I take it as it comes, everyone has the right to express their point of view, either by agreeing with you or by not agreeing with you.
Q. How was your experience with Leadstart throughout the publishing of the book?
A. This is my second book with Leadstart, I have always received a good support from them.
Q. How would you like to advice budding authors?
A. I always say don’t ever restrict your thoughts, just take a pen-paper and start writing. Your own life has so many interesting stories, all an Author needs to do is, believe in the story and write it down. Please keep thinking, keep writing as creativity has no limit – Budding Authors.
